Bellewstown, Chelmsford and Warwick – Thursday September 30
THere are six reunions across the UK and Ireland on Thursday, including a memorial to the late Barney Curley in Bellewstown, where Frankie Dettori rolls in memory of his former mentor.
A double action of jumps from Warwick (1:00 p.m. to 4:20 p.m.) and Clonmel (1:10 to 4.35) gets things going, before the start of the afternoon flat race at Bellewstown (1:25-5.20) ahead of Salisbury (1.50-5.12) and Lingfield (2.10-6.10, all weather). The action ends on the Polytrack in Chelmsford (4.55-8.30).
Thursday’s nap features Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden over the fences at Warwick and seems to be of note at the start of the jump season proper.

Horse Racing Tips: Warwick 2.00
An injury deprived Harry Cobden of a say in the jockeys’ title race last season and instead it turned into an exciting duel between Harry Skelton and Brian Hughes. As the successful runner for champion coach Paul Nicholls, Cobden hopes the honor can return to him before long.
The momentum at the start of the season cannot be underestimated and Team Ditcheat is showing signs that things are about to pick up a notch, with Nicholls sending off a few winners from seven recent starters.
FRIEND OR ENEMY should continue his good run at Warwick. The Walk In The Park gelding made smooth progress over hurdles last winter, scoring in December in a handicap at Wincanton (1m 7½f, soft) before showing well in strong races at Sandown and Wincanton, the latter of which a level 2 competition.
The six-year-old missed the big spring festivals, but showed his ability to jump fences in May when he pulled out a ready winner of a three-horse chase at Uttoxeter (2m, fine). He’s been out since, but has been effective after a layoff in the past and can make it 2-2 on the fence.

Horse Racing Tips: Chelmsford 7.00
William Haggas trained MAJDAH had already won a Yarmouth novice from four turf starts ahead of her all-season arc win at Wolverhampton last week.
For this run, during today’s 5f trip, she was fitted with a tongue tie for the first time and started off at a fast pace, apparently still with plenty to do to get home , before having four lengths ahead of the line. The leader backed off but Maajdah was still impressive as she walked away.
Shamardal’s filly carries a 6-pound penalty for this success, but that might not be enough to keep her from continuing, with stable jockey Tom Marquand back in the saddle tonight.
Selection: Maajdah @ 11/8 with Paddy Power
Horse Racing Tips: Bellewstown 3.05
This race in Bellewstown is organized in memory of Barney Curley and two of his proteges, Frankie Dettori and Jamie Spencer, will go for the occasion to the scene of the big bet of the coach, player and philanthropist Yellow Sam.
Dettori’s partners, Trueba and Spencer, straddle Tipperary Moon, but while both have claims, the fit horse is James McAuley’s. MEISHAR.
The five-year-old has improved in recent times on the turf and in all weather conditions and comes on the back of a 6f success at Dundalk last Friday under 5-pound claimant Luke McAteer.
They were in the lead on the line and neither a penalty nor a return to the grass should be off-putting. Meishar remains well on this long 7½f trip and is officially at 3 pounds “good” on a mark of 77.
He’s well boxed in the two-for-one stall who likes to be in the rhythm from the opening gates and, at McAteer, he has a jockey who has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to do good winning runs from the front. What a pleasure it would be for him to outdo Dettori and Spencer in a finish here.
Selection: Meishar @ 11/2 with Paddy Power
