The daytime nap for this Friday, October 8, according to SportsLens experts, is Nina The Terrier. She is running for coach Alan King in the 2m 3f extended novice hurdle at Chepstow today (3:55). Nina The Terrier is a 15/8 chance in the bet at the time of writing.

The five-year-old Milanese mare trained by Alan King won for the first time last season and also scored in hurdles ahead of her summer vacation. Nina The Terrier is also bred to enjoy intensive travel. The yard is in good shape, which is why it looks like a valuable bet of the day for October 8th. Why will Nina The Terrier win?

After scoring on her racetrack debut at Doncaster last November, King threw her straight to Listed level. Nina The Terrier topped odds 10/1 at Huntingdon in fourth. She was beaten to less than 13 lengths. Karlie, 5 1/2 more lengths in fifth, came out and won the hurdles in Exeter yesterday.

Glimpse Of Gala, just three-quarters of a length ahead of Nina The Terrier in third, also won her hurdle arc this fall. Runner-up Flirtious Girl claimed Listed success at Sandown later last season. Even the ninth and tenth home horses, All Clenched Up and Blue Sans, both coached by Fergal O’Brien, have come out and won some hurdles this season. All this announces the form well.

Nap for the day of October 8

Although then not as good at Kempton on her next start, Nina The Terrier trained better when she finished fourth at Southwell. She was beaten there to less than four lengths by conceding a penalty. King sent her over the hurdles in May and Nina The Terrier was back on her way to victory. She held on for a three-length victory.

Getting on a trip is the right decision. The King’s team arrives today with a strike rate of 21% with its riders in the last fortnight as well. Nina The Terrier looks great value at her current price point to keep up with her reappearance. A £ 25 bet at 15/8 pays £ 71.88 if it wins. If Nina The Terrier loses the race, QuinnBet will refund the stake as a free bet.

BEST BET

Race 6, n ° 2: JUAN DIVA

Pierro daughter of Péron; the shadow has no chance of not having won first. The wide draw is the only possible negative point for an otherwise perfect setup.

Race 4, n ° 3: PIPPALI

Finished last – but close – in the Golden Pendant of Group 2 here last start. Stakes quality mare, placed to win on Wednesday.

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW

Jason Collett has enough punching power to win Wednesday’s TAB Jockey Challenge, 14 years under a day after his first race.

THE INTERNAL MAIL FOR THE GARDENS OF ROSEHILL

RACE 1

John O’Shea is the master of the Savabeel breed and has real success here in the Champions League where the first two dams both won Group 2 races at the age of two. As for the Champions League, he made a lot of ground to be beaten with a neck by the future winner of Stakes Thousand Years in Kembla. White Glove Test, the filly from Ingham / Waller, was very good in her debut behind Yearning, nothing less considering she was 1400m – one try. Nice horse. Caboche also sent some very encouraging signs in his first run.

Bet: Champions League to win, quinella 10.13

RACE 2

Most sane people expected Kiss Sum to win at Wyong, but the way he won was probably not as widely expected. You don’t see too many gorse returning early on this trail and winning on the way out again, ears pricked. It’s of course a much better field today, but this horse could still win all four pillars. The decision to freeze Depiction certainly had the desired result. Exceed And Excel’s son Godolphin just blew them up first. Harder here. Headliner was a finalist for Stay Inside in its early days.

Bet: Kiss sum to win

RACE 3

Reformist was $ 81 to $ 61 in his first run for Edward Cummings in a Saturday race at Randwick on September 4 and ran accordingly. To think he was only two lengths away from victory. The form guide says he ran the last of 13 there two weeks later, but it wasn’t really that bad. Good rough. Waller import Agrimony is impossible to line up as it debuts today without public trials. The form reads well; market watch essential. Shibli is doing really well this preparation. His confidence would be at its highest now after this Gosford victory.

Bet: Reformist in every way

RACE 4

Pippali, the granddaughter of Golden Slipper winner Polar Success, raced at this same venue 11 days ago, but it was in Group 2 Golden Pendant. She ran last from $ 9 to $ 101 but two things; one is that she was only beaten by three and a half lengths and two, all the horses in the race basically stayed in their positions from start to finish. Fifteen Aria just ran out of place on the last start at Gosford when he finished second behind Margie Bee. Third run for her today – home, bon voyage, McDonald’s, etc. Seduction Queen, likewise, is third and on its way to a peak.

Bet: Pippali winner, quinella 2,3

RACE 5

Mightybeel is a reasonably close relative of Might And Power who would have turned 28 on Wednesday. As for Mightybeel, this gelding trained by Chris Waller was a big first drifter when he was fourth to his stable mate Shibli in Gosford. In short, this is not a Gosford horse. Trained here and his only win came second and he rushed. Speaking of Might And Power, Enduring Night was raised by Nick Moraitis. This mare is known to come back and rush home. Kuzco Lad will be difficult to pass if left alone.

Bet: Mightybeel to win, exacta 4 to beat 0

RACE 6

Juan Diva is nominated for the Nivison at the weekend, which seems fair enough considering his level and what some black guys would do for his worth. As for Wednesday, the only negative is the draw, but I thought the same about Vancouver and Farnan in their slippers and watch how it went. The Masked Mare is a much better mare than her price. She will probably come home and go home; the little field certainly helps. Fumiko has won two of her three starts and has J-Mac / box 3. Molly Nails is also handy.

Bet: Juan Diva will win, Masked Maree every way

RACE 7

Shadow Bridge is a very fast horse whose outlook increased dramatically after pulling the first barrier. Galloper Godolphin Jerle was disappointing at best in the front row at Newcastle. Must have improved, but he was second behind Doubtland in kindergarten, but by four lengths. The point is, it’s handy on its best day – handy enough to win a midweeker. I wonder what old Drachenfels can get out of here.

Bet: Shadow Bridge to win

RACE 8

Others may disagree, but there are plenty of horses that have tried their best in Sydney in recent weeks than the Ingham / Waller Dancing Gidget mare. It’s also worth noting that she ran for the lead three times for two wins and a second. On top of that, she’s won twice here at Rosehill. She’ll definitely know she’s in a race if her teammate April Rain is around. Barrier one / J-Mac is undefeated (2v2) on her. Bergen could be the big eruption here; he really could.

Bet: Dancing Gidget up for grabs, Bergen in both directions, Duo Nos, 4,5

Silent Resent breaks his young daughter on August 7 in Woodbine

A two-year, $ 150,000 competitive stakes pair, the Clarendon presented by Ontario’s HBPA and the Shady Well presented by Pepsi, share the spotlight on Friday’s eight-race card at Woodbine.

Each series of 5½ stadiums above Tapeta, Clarendon and Shady Well, for rookies high in Ontario, will be featured on Racing Light Live, which will air from 7 pm to 9 pm ET on TSN.

The map also includes the final stage of the Woodbine Turf Endurance Series, which drew 11 hopefuls for the ¾-mile marathon on the EP Taylor Turf course.

Coach Andrew Smith crossed filly Silent Resent in both stakes.

A dark bay girl from Silent Name (JN), the dark bay bred and owned by Joey Gee Thoroughbreds, debuted on August 7 with a win.

Sent on her way to 14-1, Silent Resent converted a lead advantage on the stretch call of the six-meter Tapeta race to a four-length win in 1: 11.33.

“It was a great win,” said Smith. “I’m not sure what caliber of horses we beat, but she won quite easily. I thought she would do a good run the first time around because she had shown quite a bit in the morning.

In her most recent start, the one-mile Victorian Queen Stakes played on the Toronto Oval Inner Turf, she finished sixth, six lengths behind the winner.

“She was pretty good at the start and it was kind of the end of the race for her,” Smith said. “If she had scored a little better, I think she would have run a little better. I thought she was going to run better, so I was disappointed there. I thought she would stretch, but she didn’t relax for us. This was the main problem. If she had relaxed, she could have finished better.

Smith, who is enjoying a strong 2021 campaign, believes the filly will return with a bigger effort on Friday.

“She’s heading for this next start doing pretty well. She’s definitely strong and I think she’ll like the distance reduction. Around the barn, she is very aggressive. She wants to train hard all the time and goes, goes, goes all the time.

Trainer Katerina Vassilieva will send the first winner My Girl Sky in the Shady Well.

Ranked winner of Dynamic Sky, My Girl Sky had a less than ideal start to her career on September 5 at Woodbine.

“She has a lot of heart and determination,” said Vassilieva. “She has this will to win. She had every excuse for not running well after being somehow bumped into the break and missing a step. But she flew home. I think she’s a brave filly and worth shooting in a place like this.

Vassilieva wasn’t sure how the gray filly would react the rest of the way after a rough start.

“I was surprised she got this kind of break because when Steve [jockey, Bahen] worked her from the gate – there were two other horses with her that day – she broke the faster and sharper. I think Steve and I expected her to be, if not at the top, somewhere in the mix early on – very close to the beat or in the lead.

The conditioner’s expectations about where Kevin Drew’s My Girl Sky would end up ended up changed throughout the race.

“When that didn’t happen I was hoping she would have a good experience and learn from it. As the race progressed I thought we had a chance to hit the board. Then I realized we actually had a chance to win. That’s when it got exciting. She had a really good closing kick and she really ran when Steve called her. It was nice to see.

Vassilieva enjoyed working with his young charge.

“She’s a darling. She loves people and she is very kind. She loves attention and she loves her job. She’s all business on the trail. She loves to train and seems to love being a racehorse I would say.

Dan Vella, who won consecutive editions of Shady Well, in 1994 with Honky Tonk Tune and a year later with Heavenly Valley, is represented by Marie MacKay in this year’s race.

Bred and owned by Track West Racing and Donald Whalen, the daughter of Noble Mission (GB) made her debut on September 11 at Woodbine, finishing second at 14-1 behind Aubrieta in the 5½ furlong race on the Tapeta.

Aubrieta, a two-year-old from Speightster, coached by double Hall of Famer Mark Casse, looked impressive in that 1-in-length score last month.

The Conrad Farms homebred will again be ridden by Patrick Husbands in Shady Well.

Six contenders, including Simcoe Stakes champion Ironstone, will compete for first place at the Clarendon.

The Shady Well is scheduled for the sixth race. The Clarendon is scheduled for the seventh race on Friday’s schedule at 4:45 p.m.

Fans can watch and bet on all the action with HPIbet.com and the Dark Horse Bets app.

Tuesday’s nap comes from the jump map in Galway Ireland with adorable SportsLens tipsters on Blazing Khal. He is racing in the first race of the October 5 reunion, a first hurdle of 2m 3f (1:15) with odds of 5/2 at the time of writing.

Representing astute trainer Charles Byrnes, Blazing Khal won the last of his five outstanding starts in 2020. A five-year-old gelding by Kalanisi, he has faced useful guys in the National Hunt Flat races. Blazing Khal is bringing form to the table on his hurdles debut which should be good enough to win this. This is why it calls as the best bet of the day this Tuesday. Discover more reasons why Blazing Khal is nap of the day for October 5th at a tasty 5/2 price below.

See More Free Daily Horse Racing Tips on the SBS Telegram Group

Why will Blazing Khal win?

The bumper shape released by Blazing Khal looks gradual. He was far from out of favor when he was fifth in his debut at the racetrack in Naas last February, then losing an unlucky header at Leopardstown. Lunar Display, winner in hurdles and third out of two Listeds since, has only held up. These two races definitely left the impression that Blazing Khal could win races in the future.

Although he was only fifth on this site when he reappeared last season, the winner ran well to finish second in a Punchestown festival bumper at the end of the campaign. The fourth house has since clinched a hurdle race in Limerick as well. Blazing Khal formed best on his penultimate start when he earned a place with double-digit odds around Punchestown.

Nap of the day of October 5

That piece of form that gives him every chance of winning his hurdles debut came to Limerick between Christmas and New Years. Blazing Khal led closely despite being hampered in the final stadium. Noble Yeats, the third house that day, came out and won an extended bumper at Thurles the next time around. On this occasion, he had 28 lengths ahead of Grngo D’Aubrelle who opposes Blazing Khal here.

The use of Noble Yeats, also victorious over obstacles since and now making his chase debut later on this map, as a form marker between Blazing Khal and Gordon Elliott’s charge suggests that Byrnes could be beaten by one of its main market rivals. The return of Blazing Khal and a £ 25 bet brings in £ 87.50 at its current price. If he fails to make a winning arc over the hurdles, QuinnBet will refund the stake as a free bet..

INTERNAL MAIL

RACE 1

Empire Royal started $ 101 on each of his two runs, the last one was a big improvement on his debut. This beautiful gelding is by Astern but he has a Sadler’s Wells double cross and also runs like a stayer. Unknown in the wet but the pedigree says he should be fine. Outlook beat a home first at Newcastle, but there was a lot of merit in the race. As for the 2150m, she comes from a Galileo mare. Incisive was therefore not up to Raging Bull’s last start, but he could still win the VRC Derby.

Bet: Empire Royal in both directions

RACE 2

Jewel of Waihora has won only once in her 18 starts, but she is preparing for a second victory where all the stars are aligned. Game time ; Waihora Jewel is owned by Jason Coyle’s parents and he also recently trained the dam and sire of this mare. Rodrick’s Secret is another who does not win in his turn. He only had two wins out of 22, but one of them was on the same track and the same distance. Better timing likewise is “one to one” at this track and at this distance.

Bet: Waihora Jewel to win (best bet)

RACE 3

Mascherata won like a filly of a thousand guineas that day at Scone! Tivaci’s daughter, coached by John O’Shea, has since finished last in seven and fifth in seven, but if she never returns to Gosford and Wyong, it will be too soon! We may soon see the real Mascherata again. WashHorlicks’ great-grandson could be saved for Hawkesbury next Sunday, so keep an eye out for him. Aidenabet this preparation has been exceptional so far and is not yet complete.

Bet: Masherata to win

RACE 4

Deniliquin is an amazing and somewhat typical example of his winning sire Cox Plate – Adelaide. The Think Big Stud / John Thompson gelding will easily reach 2000m at some point this spring and summer, but he has his big chance today at 1400m in the lead. Duke of Gordon is a gelding trained by John O’Shea whose dam is half Bentley Biscuit. This New Zealand-bred gelding has tested infinitely better than the fitness guide suggests. Irresistible Miss seems ready and capable of achieving this booming trial victory.

Bet: Deniliquin winner, Duke Of Gordon in both directions, quinella 1.4

RACE 5

Silver scissors will go this way in the colors of last Saturday’s Epsom winner Private Eye. This Jamie Walter / Joe Pride mare finished fifth in her last two years, but you won’t find too many provincial winners this spring that Different shots and A thousand years. Champions League was just ahead of Silver scissors in this young Kembla girl. Huge run through her – good enough to go to Rosehill tomorrow in fact. Devil Runner was a bit hot and cold, but he could go home without surprise.

Bet: Silver Scissors to win, quinella 3,4

RACE 6

Draw is a bit ironically named considering she shot 14 in her debut. That said, it will get closer to a handful or more depending on the scratches. Who knows – might be better off from the day anyway. She tries like a horse with a future and has the right to receive her pedigree – she is by Dundeel off Opportunity; the third dam is Winx – Beans from Ron Dufficy! Air strike sent encouraging signs from its inception. The same applies to Featured buyer which was $ 31 to $ 16 in this place and ran accordingly. No hit on the burning sideburns, Verbek.

Bet: Prize draw to win, Star Buyer to place

RACE 7

Wiri Field had a great race on his debut at Hawkesbury on April 5th, finishing fourth in front of a beautiful horse at Gleneagles. This filly trained by Richard and Michael Freedman took that form – and the improvement that came with it – at Kemba 19 days later and ran an honorable second. The trials were rock solid. Silk tie broke practical ground when she won this 2-year-old race in Canberra on April 23 before a spell. So much to love about the trial the other day. The glamor runs deep and Nostro Ré both have a heavy victory on their CV

Bet: Field Wiri to win, quinella 10.11

RACE 8

Think about it stable mate Roleplay might as well be booked for a race at Rosehill tomorrow such was her draw (1) there and the fact that she flies! Whatever happens, the mare trained by Kerry Parker is on a hat-trick. Art Of Excellence would probably need the track to firm up a bit, ie not a heavy 9 or 10. In terms of form, it’s well within its reach and keep in mind that three of its six victories in career have been at this level. place. Mystical vein love him here in Goulburn; four visits – two wins and two seconds.

Bet: Role play to win

It’s off to the Breeders’ Cup for Mackinnon, coached by Doug O’Neill, as he accelerated powerfully through the turn to get home and won Sunday’s $ 200,000 Zuma Beach Stakes by 2¼ length to Santa Anita in Arcadia, California. Ridden by Juan Hernandez, Mackinnon clocked one mile on the turf in 1: 33.80. With Zuma Beach being his third straight win on the trip, it’s now at the $ 1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf on November 5 in Del Mar.

In the middle of the field, about six lengths from the lead to the half-mile post, Mackinnon saved some ground on the rail at the turn, slowed down to third at the top of the track and blew through the runner-up. Silver Surfer and the first point guard thirty-four Coupé in depth in a huge effort.

“He’s getting better with every race,” said Hernandez, who has now ridden him in his last four races. “He broke well, there was little speed and he was feeling a little tired on the right side, so he changed the thread on the right side. That’s why I had to check a bit and decided to stay indoors, gain some ground and have a run.

“He came up with a huge race today… He improved a lot because the last two times I rode him I had to work a little hard on the home stretch with him. Today I asked him a bit and after that he left.

Winner of the Juvenile Turf at Del Mar on September 6, Mackinnon was the 6-5 favorite in a field of 10 juveniles and paid $ 4.40, $ 2.60 and $ 2.40.

“We didn’t have the most ideal trip,” O’Neill said. “It was a little green at the start, but Juan said after the first half mile behind us he settled down well. And as you can see, it finished very well. If he comes out in good shape, it’s for the Breeders’ Cup.

English-bred Silver Surfer appeared to gain control in the upper part, but was not up to the winner. At 5-2 with Flavien Prat, Silver Surfer paid $ 3.20 and $ 2.60 while finishing 1 ¼ ahead of Picota.

Ridden by John Velazquez, Picota, of English bred, was at 17-1 and paid $ 5.60 to show.

The fractions on the run were 22.33, 46.08, 1: 09.85 and 1: 21.90.

Raclette can maintain his unbeaten record in a fantastic way as his love of tough conditions is beyond doubt. Many of them will have cried enough at the helm of the stadium, but it will continue to feed the French straight line.

Blue angel He’s building a very impressive profile and his form compares highly to some of the best in the two-year-old division. Again, his ability to handle these test conditions is a must and he easily put Berkshire Shadow aside the last time we saw him.

Adayar proved his success in the Derby without a stroke of luck with a big win at Ascot in King George where he sidelined one of the best players in the class 10f to 12f. Admittedly, the terrain is a bit unknown. The fact that William Buick decides to stay with him and that the team decided to lead him after a slightly interrupted preparation – where we did not see him on test – says a lot about his well-being at home. .

Sibila Spain seems set to achieve decisive success at the top level after getting close a few times, he’s had a few confidence boosters at a lower level as well. It could be a bit of a breather for the French after what has been a murderous weekend, as challengers from overseas have been dominant.

Susa didn’t get the best stall position in square 12, but she has speed to her left and her excellent experienced rider will surely drop her down and give her that very important cover. We saw her shine at Goodwood when she didn’t have daylight up to the stadium bar and then flew. Hopefully a new offer with another rider.

Kinross could serve Space Blues well and let’s not forget that he started as a favorite for a Group 1 competition on his second start only after rushing to headquarters on his debut. He’s a bit more seasoned, but he really found that his feet have now fallen off in the 7f long sprint distance. Add some stamina and he can come home under a flying Frankie.

Jockey Justin Stein guides Woodbine Oaks winner Munnyfor Ro to victory in the $ 250,000 Wonder Where Stakes at Woodbine for owner Raroma Stable Inc. and trainer Kevin Attard.

Munnyfor Ro rallied solidly on the long stretch EP Taylor Turf Course to win the $ 250,400 Wonder Where Stakes, third stop of the Canadian Triple Tiara, on Saturday at Woodbine Racetrack.

It took Munnyfor Ro a little while to reach her best pace, but when she did, Munnings’s daughter pulled away from her rivals for a convincing score in the 1 1/4 mile turf test. for 3 years. -old fillies born in Canada.

After a quick run for the lead, 66-1 Youens hit the front as 4-1 Emmeline settled just outside in second. Justin Stein, aboard Munnyfor Ro, retained the 6-5 pick in striking distance, placing sixth after an opening quarter timed in: 26.44.

Youens continued to lead the way with Emmeline keeping an eye on the point guard, as Woodbine Oaks Presented by Budweiser winner Munnyfor Ro, first stage of the Triple Tiara, still ran comfortably in sixth after a half in: 52 , 44.

As the peloton turned towards home, Youens and Emmeline were quickly challenged by several rivals, including Miss Marie and Cielo d’Oro, as Stein called on MunnyforRo for his best run.

Halfway down the lane, the favorite took control and moved away from her rivals with a sprint, securing a 1 1/2 length triumph in 2: 05.36 on good ground and scoring 4. , $ 60 for the win.

Miss Marie fought hard to secure second place, Cielo d’Oro finished third and Bequia, also Kevin Attard’s trainee, took fourth place. Il Malocchio, winner of the Bison City Stakes, the second jewel of the Triple Tiara, was sixth.

“She’s all a racehorse,” praised Stein. “She felt the same (on the grass), just that nice, efficient stride and that strong kick on the stretch. Just reading the form, you could see that there was no real speed, and we were placed ahead. She was on the bridle and had only to put it in stride and wait to let go.

With this victory, Munnyfor Ro established herself as a legitimate candidate for the Sovereign Award in the categories champion of 3-year-old fillies and Horse of the year.

Attard was also thrilled with the effort of the chestnut filly, bred in Ontario by Daybar, Ltd., who finished fourth in Safe Conduct in this year’s Queen’s Plate race.

“I thought she had blossomed a lot since her run in the Queen’s Plate,” said Attard, who won Wonder Where last year with Merveilleux. “She kept a good weight, maybe put on some weight. She has matured physically, and she trained really well before this race. It was a race that Raj [owner Rajendra Maharajh] wanted to target from the start. It was just nice to see it all come together today and get the job done.

Munnyfor Ro, now 3-2-2 in 11 career starts, made his Keeneland debut in April.

A $ 1.5 million sell buy in April, the Speedway Stables ledge unfolded as it did on Friday at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif., As he dictated conditions throughout Mike Smith to record a categorical 3 ¼ win in grade 1 for Santa Anita, $ 300,000 American Pharoah Stakes. With Bob Baffert securing his record 10th American Pharoah victory, Corniche covered the 1 1/16 miles on a fast track in 1: 44.75.

A Breeders’ Cup “Win & You’re In” Challenge Race qualifier, Corniche, a Kentucky colt by Quality road, now has a paying spot in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Grade 1 on November 5 at Del Mar.

Coming off the rail in a field of seven, Corniche, who won a scintillating first-out first-out score over 5 ½ stadiums on September 4 at Del Mar, was pushed by his teammate Rockefeller to the quarter-pole, sent from him in the process of to return to his place. and won in hand in a very impressive effort.

“There are so many benefits to this horse,” said Smith. “That’s what’s really exciting about him. When he broke his young daughter as impressive as he did, he just made me feel like we weren’t even close to his full potential. … He is a big colt and he has a lot of flesh. As he starts to get even fitter and harder on the inside, he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with.

The 2-5 favorite, Corniche paid $ 2.80, $ 2.20 and $ 2.10.

Owned by Speedway Stables, LLC of Peter Fluor, Corniche, who is bred from mare Najran Wasted Tears, raised $ 180,000 for his efforts, bringing his winnings to $ 222,000. Bred in Kentucky by Bart Evans and Stonehaven Steadings, Corniche was bought back for $ 385,000 at Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale, and then was donated by De Meric Sales to the OBS Spring sale of 2-year-olds in training, where he made a final offer of $ 1.5 million.

“You never know until you send them two rounds whether they’ll be able to handle it or not, and it looked like he had handled it pretty well,” Baffert said. “He’s got a good mind so I’m pretty happy with it. I loved the way they broke well and were placed forward, that’s where we love to be. At the back, he was chased by a very good horse (Rockefeller, who checked fourth)… ”

Asked about the issue of Corniche not receiving what should have been 10 qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby due to Churchill Downs issuing an edict prohibiting any hope of Baffert from earning said points, he replied: “We let’s just let the process unfold and don’t think about it now. The main thing is to keep them healthy and prepare them for the next dance. I focus on these horses day after day… ”

Pappacap, who passed Rockefeller at the top of the track, finished well to finish second under Joe Bravo and paid $ 6.80 and $ 4.20 when he was 13-1.

Ridden by Kent Desormeaux, the first Oviatt Class trailer finished third at half length and paid $ 3.00 to show.

The fractions on the run were 23.55, 47.26, 1: 11.91 and 1: 37.85.

Saturday’s main event in Santa Anita is the 10th Race, the $ 300,000 Awesome Again Stakes (G1), a ‘Win and You’re In’ Breeders’ Cup Challenge event that guarantees a winner a spot in the gate for the $ 6 million BC Classic (G1) at Del Mar in five weeks.

The 9-stadium main track test drew a field of eight of the top riders representing the older division – all of them very accomplished riders – and will provide meaningful final insight into who the West Coast’s top contenders are for the Classic. .

This year’s renewal also marks the return of Zedan Racing Stables’ reigning Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Medina Spirit – until the courts say otherwise – after a victory in the Shared Belief Stakes at Del Mar. The Protonico colt will also compete for a week. after being pulled out of the $ 1million Pennsylvania Derby (G1) at Parx in favor of this race, coach Bob Baffert felt the colt’s forward running style would be hampered by his away position.

The Awesome Again was originally contested as the Goodwood Stakes in honor of the Oak Tree Racing Association’s sister track, Goodwood Racecourse in England, and was contested on behalf of the winner of the 1998 BC Classic of Frank Stronach, who has only raced twice in California and only Hollywood Park, since 2012, Pleasantly Perfect (2003) and Tiznow (2000) as the winners of the Awesome Again-Breeders’ Cup.

Ferdinand and Super Diamond won this race in the 1980s and although champion Bertrando won in 1994, the race became an important preparation for the Breeders’ Cup Classic in 1998 when the Kentucky Derby winner and Cup winner Dubai world, Silver Charm, won it en route to a second in this classic of the year. Lord at War, Pleasantly Perfect and Game On Dude have each taken two races since their first competition in 1982 and Lava Man, Shared Belief and California Chrome are also on the list of previous winners.

Last year, SF Racing’s WinStar Farm, China Horse Club and Improbable won the Awesome Again auction in front of an empty grandstand due to the COVID-19 pandemic and finished second behind Authentic in the Classic.

Hall of Fame members Baffert (Medina Spirit and Azul Coast) and Charlie Whittingham were tied for scoring more winners in this race than any other coach with five apiece before the 2020 renewal, but Baffert took home honors in the better trainer thanks to the victory of Improbable. Its other winners are Silver Charm (1998), Richard’s Kid (2010), Game On Dude (2011, 2012) and Mubtaahij (2017).

Other trainers with runners this year who have saddled winners in previous races include Richard Mandella (1995, Soul of the Matter; 2002 and 2003, Pleasantly Perfect; 2005, Rock Hard Ten), John Shirreffs (2007, Tiago ), John Sadler (2018, Accelerate) and Richard Baltas (2001, Freedom Crest).

Mandella is tightening the belt on Tizamagician this year, Shirreffs on Midcourt and Express Train, Sadler on Tripoli and Baltas on Idol. In fact, of all the coaches who sent runners to this year’s Awesome Again Stakes, only Ed Moger, Jr. (Stiletto Boy) has yet to reach the winner’s circle with one of his bosses.

Hall of Fame member Gary Stevens is still the most successful jockey, having guided home five winners – Cutlass Reality; 1988; Bertrand, 1994; Charm in silver, 1998; Rock Hard Ten, 2005; and Mucho Macho Man, 2013. Of the eight jockeys this year, only Kent Desormeaux has already reached the winner’s circle, having achieved four victories – 1992, Reign Road; 1993, lottery winner; 1995, Soul of matter; and 2001, Freedom Crest.

The Awesome Again is scheduled to roll out the door at 5:13 p.m. PT.
