No less than 18 people, including women and children, were killed by a group of suspected bandits in a new attack in the town of Kurya Madaro, in the local government area of Kaura Namoda, in the state. by Zamfara.
Local resident Malam Mohammed Lawali Kurya, who narrowly escaped the attack, told Blueprint in Gusau on Wednesday that thugs stormed the town at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
He said the bandits including men and women, rode camels and horses with dangerous weapons during the invasion of their city.
Kurya also said the bandits set a police operational vehicle, trailer, four other community-owned vehicles and numerous shops on fire in the attack.
“Immediately they started the attack, even our district chief informed the army and other security personnel, but we did not see them until the next morning today (Wednesday)”, he added.
“I suspect that these people were not Nigerians but from the Republic of Niger because their way of dressing and the intonation of their language indicated that they are not Nigerians,” he added.
While calling for the deployment of more troops, he said all those killed in the chaos were buried according to Islamic rites.
“We buried 18 of our people who were horribly killed by the bandits last night, in accordance with today’s Islamic principles,” the source added.

It shares borders with Rugu Forest, Jibia Local Government Area in Katsina and Zurmi in Zamfara State.
The state government has cut off the mobile telecommunications network in Batsari and 13 other local government areas in the state as part of efforts to address insecurity.

“They came around Magrib’s prayers. Some people had finished their prayers by then. They rode more than 20 motorcycles. It was during the sporadic shooting that they killed 10 people and injured others, ”he said.
